Travel Skincare Guide. Looking Hot on Hols

Updated: Jun 19

Tips for looking flawless whilst still having fun!

June is nearly over... which means it is time to start thinking about holidays!

The first thing that comes to mind when packing skincare for a holiday is your destination. However, as skin specialist, my advice is to start with the journey. Remember to protect against transepidermal water loss (TEWL). Due to the drying effects of the recirculated air in the flight cabin or stuck in an air conditioned car, evaporation of water vapour through our skin contributes to problems such as acne, dermatitis and psoriasis.

To prevent this, use a moisturiser with a humectant, such as hyaluronic acid, which helps to retain moisture in the skin. Hydro Serum is perfect and lightweight enough for any travel! Additionally, bring a facial mist to spritz throughout the journey, as this will help to keep skin hydrated. Niacinamist is a light weight ultra-hydrating, anti-ageing and pore reduction mist containing Niacinamide, Vitamin B5, Beta Glucan and Hyaluronic Acid to leave skin looking plumper, lighter and more radiant. Perfect for cooling your skin day or night.

Don't let air cabin pressure or lack of sleep exacerbate eye bags.

This year all major UK airports are introducing fancy new 3D baggage scanners that will hopefully see the 100ml in- flight rule scrapped. But until then I suggest packing a compact eye product in your hand luggage. Million Dollar i-Tx is perfect.

This ultra nourishing eye treatment contains peptides, emollients, humectants and multi-vitamins to help relax wrinkles, stimulate, hydrate and brighten the delicate skin around the eyes to smooth the look of fine lines and reduce puffiness. With each I-tx cream coming with a complementary cooling eye massaging tool in a velvet pouch, it is perfect to pack into your handbag to cool down and get rid of headaches on long trips.

SPF is a MUST, no matter if you are heading to the beach, to the city or to the slopes.

If you swim or sweat, apply sunscreen every two hours and reapply as needed.

Shield 50 is a highly effective photo-stable broad spectrum, lightweight physical sunscreen, containing a combination of clinically proven filters to protect the skin against the harmful effects of UV rays. It is water resistance and contains clinically proven AHA’s, citric and lactic acid to gently increase cell turnover. It is light and easily absorbed with a natural tint to give an even appearance whilst having a hydrating effect on the skin without leaving a white cast. Suitable for all skin tones, this really is a "recommended by Vogue" best seller for a reason!

Warmer weather means more perspiration, which can react with sebum (oil), environmental pollutants and make-up to trigger breakouts.

Cleansing both morning and night with a gentle wash such as Dermacleanse will calm irritated skin to help restore a healthy glowing complexion as well as remove excess oil and damaging pollution so skin feels smooth and squeaky clean.

Changes in climate, plus more alcohol and late nights, also compromise the skin barrier, which can lead to

rosacea flare-ups, dryness or breakouts.

I recommend the advanced signature Radiate10 serum which uses scientific and evidence based formulas, offering daily antioxidant protection. It contains stabilised L-ascorbic acid , a form of vitamin C which is easily and quickly absorbed by the skin for greater potency.

With these products in the bag, you'll be able to enjoy the holidays without worrying about your skin.

So put on your beach dress and get ready to shine!
